Provisional Psychologist Program
Elementa Psychology has an Internship Program for the final year training of Masters of Clinical Psychology candidates. This year we will have two Provisional Psychologists from La Trobe University working with our team.
Psychology Intern Program
Provisional psychologists are interns who have completed their tertiary qualification to apply psychological assessment, treatments, and other applied skills under a senior psychologist’s supervision. Like medical registrars who do training rounds in hospitals and GP clinics, Provisional Psychologists are required to complete a certain number of hours of psychological practice, supervision, and professional development.
Under supervision, provisional psychologists would have confidential discussions and mentoring with nominated supervisor in order to check their clinical judgement, applying appropriate evidence-based intervention, abiding with APS ethical guidelines, and making sure that the provisional psychologist are catering and meeting the needs of the client. Supervisors must be approved by Psychology Board of Australia (PsyBA) and registered with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
Counselling or other services provided by provisional psychologist are not Medicare rebated; therefore, they are charged with lower fee and is not limited with a mental health care plan. Our psychology Interns provide low-cost assessment and treatment of adults, teens and children who are experiencing mental health difficulties.
