Christina Damicoucas

Clinical Psychologist

BA(Hons) MPsych (ClinPsych) MAPS

Where do I work?............  I work in Heidelberg on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays.

How long have I worked in Mental Health?............  5 Years

Mental Health Experience............ I have experience working with youth through Headspace, providing therapy for individuals and groups aged 12-25. I also have experience in private practice settings, working with a broader range of age groups.

Who do I treat?............ Adolescents over 14 years, and adults

Areas of expertise............ I work with a variety of presentations including anxiety, stress, depression, obsessive-compulsive and related disorders, perfectionism, grief/loss, anger, emotion regulation, self-esteem issues, and relationship issues. I also have experience and a particular interest in treating eating disorders.

My therapy style............ My approach to therapy and client care is focused on tailoring treatment to the needs of the individual. I value the importance of treating the individual as a whole, rather than treating a psychological issue in isolation. I prioritise creating a safe space in therapy and building self-awareness and self-efficacy with my clients in a collaborative way. I use a range of evidence-based treatments, based on their appropriateness to the situation, including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Schema Therapy, and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT). I also use Enhanced Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT-E) in treating eating disorders.
